Christian School Problems

Today marks my LAST first day at a Christian University.

3 more classes in the credentialing program and I can start student teaching.

My goal = Elementary.*

*More on that later!

Back to Christian aspect.

Anyone who has ever spent any time at a Christian school knows that there are certain stereotypes. Mainly about marriage.

So, to those of you who will understand, a joke.

Within the first two minutes of sitting down, my classmate turns to me and says, "so, did you get married over summer too?"

My face.

Which brings me to my next subject.

Long-Distance Sucks!

***Disclaimer: I am not getting married anytime soon. Please don't jump to any conclusions, Grammy.

This, Ladies and the few gentlemen that read my blog, is my boyfriend.

Not to be confused with my dog..who I will most likely talk about just as much.

Facts about Brandon (B):
  • He is wonderful.
  • We started dating in October of 2012. He made it official in December. Yes, he waited that long. That's where the irritating bit comes in.
  • He is currently in the Napa Police Academy.
    • Forgive me, in advance, if some of my posts turn into blubbery, whiney messes.
  • He Graduates in December!
I guess, because I get to see him on the occasional weekend, that some wouldn't consider us long distance. To that I say, if I can't hug him or hold his hand anytime I want then that, my friends, is considered long distance.

With that being said...I am not good with long distance. At all. I have an awful track record.

#1. I left for College. Broke up with my 4 year.
#2. I left for Australia. Broke up with the man I thought I was going to marry.*

* More on that later.

This time it's different.
I have a dog.

And this kick-ass movement that I follow. Check it out!

Here I go again.

Something Has Happened.

I guess you could say that I've been inspired.

I stumbled upon one of the greatest blogs I've ever had the pleasure of reading.

If you haven't already checked out thebloggess.com go give it a quick read. But then come back to mine...I promise...you might laugh at something... ok, I can't promise that.

Either way, I've decided to start the great adventure of blogging.

Something Has Happened.

This is Bear.
I got him last Saturday.
He's a great guy. I'm still learning things about him.
He is anywhere from 5-9 years old.
I'd love to share our story.
It was love at first sight.

It started out as a typical Saturday. My grandma, who I was raised by and who I will now refer to as "Grammy" (Let's face it, we're going to be family sooner or later), had driven up from Placerville and surprised me with a few days to just relax together.  We were on our second day together, and in a town like Redding, we were running out of things to do together.

The problem is that it's about 5,000 degrees in Redding so it's nearly impossible to leave the house between the hours of 11am and 4pm. Anytime between then I normally watch movies, read blogs, read books, paint, crochet, the occasional Jenna Marbles, or Pinterest my time away.

With Grammy here I felt the need to show her a good time. After a quick trip to the lake we were on our way to grab a bite to eat.

Here's the thing, in order to get to In and Out we had to pass a Petsmart. And because it was Saturday Pets Without Partners, a local pet rescue, were in full swing of their weekly adoptions.

Now I swear, I was only going to buy a couple of dog treats for a dog that I borrow from time to time. Her name is Stella. You'll learn about her a little bit later.

Back to Saturday. Grammy and I walked arm in arm towards the adoptable pets and started browsing. We started showing the first set of dogs love and after they had settled we moved over to the next lot of pups. That's when I saw him.

He was sitting smack dab in the middle of little yappers and staring at me. He didn't move, even when I started talking directly to him. He didn't wag his tail, he just stared. He was wearing a brown bandana and I could tell he was a rebel from the start.

I tried. I tried walking away. I really did, but it was no use. His eyes were locked. His heart was set. He chose me.

After a few signatures, a swipe of my credit card, and a whirlwind of unnecessary purchases I walked away with my sweet  baby.

Don't you worry. I have a photo that encapsulates the spirit of the day. Don't mind my sweaty face.
